For Nicolas Hopkinson, storytelling has never been confined to a single stage. Whether he’s behind a microphone, leading an unforgettable Dungeons & Dragons campaign, or stepping into the role of a soloist before an audience, his passion has always been the same: bringing characters to life.
Specializing in LitRPG, fantasy, horror, and thrillers, Nicolas thrives on stories filled with impossible choices, unforgettable worlds, and characters whose motivations run deeper than first impressions. Villains, in particular, are among his favorite roles to perform because the most compelling antagonists are never simply evil—they believe they’re right.

Although new to full-length audiobook narration, Nicolas has already lent his voice to the introductions and closing segments of the Kaleidoscope of American Storytelling audiobook series, as well as the opening narration for The Kaleidoscope of American Storytelling Podcast. He records professionally from his home studio and is excited to bring his love of immersive storytelling to longer-form narration projects.
A lifelong performer, Nicolas studied voice under the guidance of his grandmother, a former performer with the St. Paul, Minnesota Opera. He has sung with multiple choirs throughout Utah, served as a featured soloist with the Somerset Choir in Spanish Fork, and has appeared in numerous community holiday productions in Springville. That musical foundation has given him exceptional vocal control, expressive range, and a deep appreciation for performance.
Away from the booth, Nicolas has spent the past four years working as a professional Dungeon Master, creating unforgettable adventures and distinct character voices for players. He has also been part of the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival for the past three years, continuing to refine the art of engaging an audience through spoken word.
When he’s not recording or running adventures, you’ll probably find him painting or designing 3D-printed miniatures for Dungeons & Dragons, playing Magic: The Gathering, adding another hardcover to his growing library, studying Japanese, or spending time with his six nephews and one niece—who proudly consider him their favorite uncle.
Ask Nicolas what kind of stories he loves most, and he’ll point to Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End—a story that reminds us the greatest adventures aren’t always about defeating monsters, but about discovering what gives life meaning.
